PESHAWAR, March 9: Announcing his party’s full participation in the forthcoming elections, the provincial president of the Pakistan Muslim League-N, Pir Sabir Shah, asked the government here on Thursday to lift ban imposed on political activities in the country.

Speaking at a press conference after the conclusion of the provincial council meeting of the party, he said his party would not allow any dictator to play havoc with the constitution, and urged the government not to further disfigure the constitution.

He opposed the political reforms of the government, saying the political parties be taken into confidence in this regard, otherwise, it would have severe repercussions.

Without supporting or opposing the condition of graduation for contesting polls, the PML-N leader said his party would contest elections irrespective of any conditionalities placed by the government.

“Even if they allow only masters degree holders to contest elections, Muslim League will go ahead with it,” he remarked.

Answering a query, the Pir, who was flanked by party’s provincial secretary-general Iqbal Zaffar Jhagra, said electoral alliances were part of politics and the PML(N) was in touch with various political parties in this regard. However, he added, the talks regarding any future alliance were yet to mature.
