KARACHI, July 26: Sindh Governor Dr lshratul Ibad has promulgated an ordinance to provide for the establishment of an authority to regulate technical education and vocational training in the province.

Through the ordinance, the government may, by notification in the official gazette, establish an authority ‘Sindh Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority’ (Stevta).

The headquarters of the authority shall be at Karachi and it may establish regional offices at such places as it may deem fit.

The functions of the authority shall be: to formulate technical education and vocational training policies and plans in collaboration with the commission (NA VETC) towards the objective of bringing these programmes in consonance with current industry requirements.—APP
