WASHINGTON, Oct 20: The Washington Capitals scored four times in the second period en route to a 4-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens in NHL action Friday as Jaromir Jagr netted on his return from injury.
Jagr had not played since suffering a knee strain against the New York Rangers on October 10 but came back after signing a five-year contract extension Thursday that made him the highest-paid player in hockey.
Not to be outdone, Peter Bondra got on the scoresheet again when he forged a 1-1 tie 1:07 into the second period, scoring off a faceoff just two seconds into Washington’s third power play of the game.
