KARACHI: PAC backs CDGK drive

Published July 21, 2007

KARACHI, July 20: A delegation of the Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga) called on DCO Javed Hanif Khan in his office and apprised him of the problems being faced by Pakhtuns living in Karachi.

The grievances pertained to Pakthuns’ livelihood and housing issues, including transport, katchi abadis and civic amenities in their localities.

The delegation extended its support to the city government’s campaign against encroachers, and said the PAC would fully cooperate with the CDGK in the removal of encroachments.

The DCO told the delegation that the city government would give consideration to the issues raised in the meeting and make every possible effort to resolve them.

The meeting also considered the PAC’s request for setting up a truck stand for reti-bajri vehicles. It was noted that a separate stand would help contain certain traffic problems in the city.—PPI
