KARACHI, July 19: Police stations across the city have been advised to close their doors and keep a watchful eye on entrances to ward off any possible terrorist attack in the wake of a string of suicide attacks in the country.
“Three constables will be posted at the rooftop of the police station and every visitor to the police station will be frisked,” said a station house officer of Gulshan Town. All the particulars of the visitor would be registered as well, he added.
Similarly, parking inside the police station and the police lines will not be allowed and even outside close to the premises of the police stations.
City police chief Azhar Farooqui told Dawn that due to the happenings in the country, “we have instructed our forces to be vigilant and, in addition to providing security to the public, also take care of their own security, as the threat is real not imaginary.”
“Similarly, we have also instructed our escorts to remain vigilant for their own security as well,” the city police chief added.
Following a spate of suicide bombings in different parts of the country, security has been beefed up at Civic Centre and other offices of the city government.
Walkthrough gates and surveillance cameras have been installed on different entrances of the Civic Centre on Thursday while additional teams of private security personnel have also been deployed.
Besides, all EDOs have been asked to intensify security arrangements at their respective departments. A meeting was also held on Thursday to review the security arrangements at the Civic Centre and various other offices of the city government.
