KARACHI, July 12: The Public Accounts Committee of the Sindh Assembly while reviewing accounts for the year 2000-01 of the culture and labour departments has censured the officials for irregularities, misuse of power and failure to observe rules for incurring expenditures from appropriated funds.

The committee has also taken notice of the failure on the part of the officials for non-compliance of the instructions of the PAC and failure to hold internal meetings of departmental account committees and want of coordination.

It also observed that petrol consumption receipts with unknown or unlisted vehicle numbers were also found and asked the secretary to take action against officials responsible for misuse of funds.

However, accepting their apologies, the PAC chairman asked them to strictly follow the rules in future.

The committee found that expenditures incurred by the culture department on VVIP’s and payment made to performers in Bhit Shah lacked support of any voucher.
