GUJRANWALA, March 7: Additional District and Sessions Judge Sanaullah Khan Niazi sent on Thursday an ASI and a head constable to jail for giving a fake statement in the court.

According to details, Aroop police arrested Riaz in a narcotics case. Investigation officer ASI Shafqatullah said in his statement in the court that he recovered heroin from Riaz which was sealed in a packet. The judge found soap instead of heroin in the packet.

Riaz said in his statement that police had not recovered any heroin from him while he had been implicated in the case.

The judge expressed dismay over the fake statement of an investigating officer and sent him to jail.

Later, the court recorded the statement of prosecution witness Head Constable Abdul Razzaq and also sent him to jail when he supported the statement of the ASI.

The court summoned another prosecution witness ASI Zakaullah on March 18.

Meanwhile, SSP Muhammad Aslam Tarin suspended ASI Shafqatullah from service and issued him show cause notice.
