ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf office-bearer Hamid Khan appeared to be all set to win the office of the president of the Supreme Court bar association (SCBA).

According to unofficial results, Hamid Khan advocate was leading the contest with 50 votes. Counting in Lahore had been going on till the filing of this report at 11pm.

Mohammad Akram Sheikh led from other centres collectively but lost to Khan with a big margin in Lahore, the centre where the highest number of SCBA voters resides.

Sheikh polled 196 votes from six stations, sans Lahore, against 189 of Khan.

PPP-backed candidate Sardar Latif Khan Khosa could get only 116 votes from Peshawar, Islamabad, Bhawalpur, Multan, Quetta and Karachi.

The fourth candidate, Saeed Ansari, polled two votes.

Abdul Haleem Pirzada, the outgoing president of the SCBA, told Dawn that counting was still on in Lahore.

He said Hamid Khan was leading from Lahore with 150 from the counted votes from Lahore, followed by Khosa with 83 and Sheikh with 60 votes.

Sheikh polled 42, Khan 26 and Latif Khosa eight votes from Peshawar. From Islambad, Khan got 49, as compared to 43 of Sheikh and 37 votes of Khosa. From Bhawalpur, Khosa polled 16, followed by Sheikh with 13 and Khan with seven votes. In Multan, Sheikh and Latif Khosa bagged 20 votes each, followed by Khan with 19 votes. From Quetta, Khan polled 13 votes, followed by Khosa with eight and Sheikh with five votes.
