LAKKI MARWAT, July 7: Elders of the Mela Shahabkhel village have called upon the provincial government to sanction staff for a newly-established high school in their village in order to make it functional.

The elders held a meeting here which was presided over by councillor Khalid Salim Khan.

They said the school building had been completed a couple of months ago and the works and services department had handed it over to the schools and literacy department of Lakki Marwat.

However, they said, the school had not been made operational because no staff had been appointed there.

They urged the chief minister and other officials to sanction teaching and other staff for the school immediately so that it could be made functional from the next academic year.

Meanwhile, Lakki Marwat Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan has called upon the provincial health secretary and other officials to set up a basic health unit in the Darra Tang union council’s Baru village.

In an official letter to the health secretary, the nazim said the village, about 35 kilometres from the Lakki Marwat city, lacked healthcare facilities.

He said the Baru village was surrounded by small hamlets, Wanda Khara, Wanda Khajar, Wanda Mir Alam, Wanda Abdullah Khan, Wanda Daulati, Wanda Tatiwala, Wanda Dharak and Wanda Nizami.

“Residents of the area have no excess to health facilities and they have to travel a long distance to reach city and DHQ hospitals for availing medical facilities,” he said.
