Euro rises

LONDON, June 29: The euro rose against the dollar on Friday, a day after the Federal Reserve left US interest rates unchanged, as strong economic data boosted the European single currency.

The euro firmed to 1.3519 dollars, from 1.3446 dollars late on Thursday in New York.

The dollar advanced to 123.44 yen, from 123.11 yen late Thursday.

The euro was changing hands at 1.3519 dollars, against 1.3446 dollars late on Thursday, 166.85 yen (165.57), 0.6738 pounds (0.6713) and 1.6548 Swiss francs (1.6555).

The dollar stood at 123.44 yen (123.11) and 1.2244 Swiss francs (1.2311). The pound was being traded at 2.0067 dollars (2.0025).—AFP
