ISLAMABAD, June 20: Aamir Atlas held nerves to knock out Yasir Butt by a whisker and win the first Pakistan Squash League at the Mushaf Squash Complex on Wednesday.Aamir overcame Yasir 11-8, 8-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-10 in the one-hour battle.

He won the fourth set 11-7 by bouncing back from 1-5 deficit. Aamir thus levelled the game 2-2 and took the final into the deciding fifth set.

Aamir started the last game on a high note and took 5-0 lead. Yasir soon strengthen his grip over the set by taking 10-8 lead and was poised to win it. Aamir then earned two consecutive points to take the match into the tie-break and finally won it after the fourth tie-break.

Aamir received Rs60,000 while Yasir got Rs50,000. The Pakistan Squash Federation awarded special prize of Rs25,000 each to both the finalists.—APP
