BEIJING, March 4: Pakistan Ambassador to China Riaz H. Khokhar has said India should learn from China’s experience in dealing with its neighbours on the basis of mutual respect and sovereignty.
Pakistan believed that an improvement in Beijing-New Delhi ties would have a positive impact on peace and security in South Asia, he said in an interview here on Sunday.
He said Islamabad welcomed the recent visit of Premier Zhu Rongji to India, and believed China pursued a very prudent policy and forged good relations with all its neighbours.
In separate interviews with Chinese magazines World Affairs and Beijing Review, the ambassador said Pakistan did not want to initiate an armed conflict with India.
“ Pakistan undertook military deployment along the border in reaction to serious provocation from the Indian side as a precautionary measure,” he said.—APP
