KARACHI, June 20: A PIA technician died when he fell off the wing of an aircraft while working at the airline’s engineering department’s hanger on Wednesday.According to a PIA press release, Junaid Sarwar had been working in the PIA engineering department for the last four months as an apprentice technician.

“He was executing maintenance task on the wing of an aircraft while placing himself on a dock with safety belt off his body since he anticipated completion of his assigned task. During work he approached the aircraft wing through an awkward position thereby losing his physical balance leading to slippage,” the release added.

He suffered a head injury and was taken to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The PIA management has ordered an inquiry into the case.
