TAXILA, June 12: An under trail prisoner was shot injured allegedly by a rival at the Tehsil Court Complex here on Monday.

Prisoner Aurang Zaib had allegedly shot injured two brothers, Waheed and Fazal, over some petty dispute in Passwal village a few weeks ago. Taxila police registered a case against accused Zaib and later arrested him.

On Monday when the accused was taken to the court to present before the judge for remand, the victims brother, identified as Majeed Khan, opened fire at him. Aurang Zaib received bullet injury in his foot and fell down.

The injured was taken to the THQ hospital Taxila from where he was shifted to the DHQ hospital for medical treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, the accused managed to escape from the court complex in presence of dozens of armed policemen who were looking the whole affair as silent spectators.

Taxila police registered a case against the accused and started investigations.

POLICE PATROL: The district police officer Taxila has assured that police patrol in the rural areas would be ensured and additional force would be deployed to reduce incidents of robbery in Hassanabdal.

He made this assurance while talking to people of area on Monday. Tehsil Nazim Shahfqat Khan Tahirkhali and others were also present on the occasion.

Shortage of staff, he said, was the main hurdle in the intensive patrolling in the area and it would be addressed by posting additional policemen at the police stations of Burhan and Saddar.

He called upon the people to join hands with the police to curb anti social activities in the area.
