PESHAWAR, June 9: The city police have arrested nine proclaimed offenders besides dozens of other criminals in a midnight operation.

According to police sources, on the instructions of Capital City Police Officer Abdul Majeed Marwat and under the supervision of SSP Iftikhar Khan various police parties conducted midnight raids against those involved in murder, robbery and drug-peddling throughout the district.

During the raids, police arrested Israf, Arman, Attaullah, Naheed, Shahid Ali, Sardar Ali and Wajid from Regi, Akhtar Ali from Bhanamari and one proclaimed offender from the Faqirabad area, besides dozens of other criminals.

Police parties recovered one automatic rifle, one shotgun and eight pistols. One bottle of liquor and 11kg of charas were also recovered during the raids.

Meanwhile, the Gulberg police arrested Imran Haider of Lahore for carrying Rs11,600 in fake currency.—APP
