HYDERABAD, June 8: The Sindh government has announced 100 per cent remission in farm taxes for Kharif 2006 and postponement of arrears for 22 talukas of eight districts on account of last year’s rains and flood.
The secretary, revenue department, issued two notifications on Thursday which declared Mirpurkhas, Sindhri, Hussain Bux Mari and Kot Ghulam Muhammad of Mirpurkhas; Sanghar, Sinjhoro, Khipro and Jam Nawaz Ali of Sanghar; Umerkot and Samaro of Umerkot; Badin, Matli and Tando Bago of Badin; Shah Bunder, Keti Bunder, Kharo Chhan, Thatta and Jati of Thatta; Latifabad and Qasimabad of Hyderabad; Jhando Mari of Tando Allahyar and Diplo of Tharparkar as calamity-hit areas.
He said in conformity to powers conferred under Rule 61 (b) of Sindh Land Revenue Rules 1968 and Rule 21 of Sindh Land Tax and Agricultural Income Tax Rules 2001, the Board of Revenue after the approval of chief minister declares 100 per cent remission in land tax, water rate (Abiana), local cess & drainage cess and postponement of arrears for one year to the above mentioned talukas which were already declared calamity affected.
ROTATION PROGRAMME: Executive engineer has announced rotation programme in Nasir Division, Hyderabad due to water shortage in Rohri Main Canal.
According to schedule of rotation, the Bulghai Distributary, Landhi-I Minor, Tando Soomro-II Distributary and Shaikh Moosa Distributary of Tando Allahyar Sub-Division; Tando Ghulam Ali Distributary, Chango Minor, Sangi Minor, Jarkas Distributary and D.O. Nasir Branch RD 220 to 354 of Khairpur Gambo Sub-Division; Tajpur Minor, Shah Latif Minor, Ghotano-I Distributary and D.O. Rohri Main Canal of Tajpur Sub-Division; Soomerki Distributary, Seri Distributary, Mati Minor, Ghotano-II Minor and D.O. Rohri Main Canal of Tando Muhammad Khan Sub-Division and Chakar Down RD 45, Chamber Minor and D.O. Sarfraz Branch of Bukerani Sub-Division would remain open up to June 13.
