LAHORE, June 7: While the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) has asked an explanation from its ex-secretary Arshad Lodhi for breaching code of conduct by levelling false allegations on top officials, the former secretary said he would inform FIFA and AFC about what he believe are illegal and unconstitutional elections.

"Arshad Lodhi has to give reasons for breaching the PFF code of conduct or the case will be referred to the PFF disciplinary committee for violation FIFA, AFC and PFF codes of conduct," a PFF spokesman said on Thursday.

"It has been noted with great concern that former PFF secretary Arshad has not only levelled false allegations on top PFF official, but has also tried to tarnish the image of the federation through baseless statements in the media. His case will be considered by PFF disciplinary committee if he fails to deliver any satisfactory answer to the PFF till June 10," the spokesman said.

The PFF spokesman said besides being chairman of the Punjab Football Association Arshad was also member of the PFF executive committee till Aug 31 and added that as the PFF secretary he had suspended several individuals for breaching code of conduct.

Arshad had raised objections over PFF president Faisal Saleh Hayat for declaring himself president of the PFF for another four-year term in May before July 14 elections without waiting for a decision of the Lahore High Court (LHC) regarding the elections of the Punjab Football Association (PFA).

Although Arshad was re-elected chairman PFA in April, his rival group headed by Tariq Cheema moved the LHC to get stay order against the election. The case is still pending with the court. Faisal, however, was declared as president, as the PFF claims that it didn’t receive nominations against him two months before the date of elections which is criteria according to the constitution.

Arshad claims that elections in all the four provinces must be completed before the PFF elections.

"Any PFF election before the due date will be unlawful, unconstitutional and the violation of the PFF laws. If the federation pays no attention to my grievance, I will be left with no other option but to formally inform FIFA and the AFC about my concern," Arshad said.

He lamented that he was ousted from the office of the secretary-general earlier this year because he always expressed his reservations on the irregularities taking place in the PFF. He also pointed out the present office-bearers of the PFF had changed the article 19 of the constitution just for personal interest.
