ISLAMABAD, Oct 20: Pakistan will undertake every possible measure to promote cooperation with China in highway building sector.
This was stated by Chairman, National Highway Authority, Maj. Gen. Tariq Javed while talking to Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Trade and Export Corporation, Sum Zhentgyu during his visit to China.
They discussed matters relating to promotion of trade activity through Karakorum Highway between the two countries.
The chairman, national highway authority said, China had always assisted Pakistan in critical times and this mutual cooperation has led both the countries to the apex of friendship which is a precedent for rest of the world to follow.
He said, the existing leadership of Pakistan is paying particular attention towards construction and extension of highways in the country and the national highway network is being extended upto remote areas.
Tariq Javed said, Chinese companies are working on highway projects in Pakistan and that Chinese offer for designing and repair of bridges over Karakorum Highway is commendable.
He further said, the KKH reflects Pakistan-China relationship and enjoys vital significance in trade activity between the two countries.
The chairman national highway authority said, all the measures will be adopted to keep the KKH in good condition.
He said, Pakistan and China have already concluded a trade agreement and its implementation will further strengthen friendly ties between the two.
Chinese Vice Minister for Foreign Trade and Export Corporation, Sum Zhentgyu said, nature of Pakistan-China friendship is exemplary.
He said, there is a need for cooperation in economic sector particularly in highway sector.
He said various Chinese construction companies are engaged in completion of highways projects in Pakistan and this cooperation will continue in the future.
Sum Zhentgyu said China desires promotion of trade links with Pakistan, adding, trade activity between the two neighbouring countries will bring them more closer.—APP
