MIRPURKHAS, March 2: The residents of over one dozen localities of Mirpurkhas have been deprived of water for last five days.

Report said that due to the scant supply of water in the reservoirs of the city, Lalchandabad, Gharibabad, Khad plot, Adam town, Toorabad, Dholanabad, Jamnadas colony, Pak colony, Ghousia colony, Nawab colony, Rajar colony, Mehmoodabad, Walkart, Hirabad, Naipara, Lal Para, Noor Shah colony, Chaki Para, and Thomsabad were not getting water.

The people of the affected localities told this scribe that they were getting drinking water from hand pumps and were facing hardships to acquire water for daily use.

They said that despite the repeated complaints to the authorities concerned, their grievances were not redressed.

They lamented that only influential and resourceful people were getting water through tankers of the municipal committee.

ZILA NAZIM: Mirpurkhas Zila Nazim Pir Shafqat Hussain Shah Jilani has said that along with academic, extra curricular activities should be promoted by bringing reforms in the educational institutions.

He was speaking at a ceremony of the Jashn-i-Baharan at the Government Shah Abdul Latif Science College, here on Thursday.
