NAWABSHAH, June 3: Three police personnel and a villager were injured in a clash in the jurisdiction of Mari Jalbani police station on Sunday.
According to reports, a team of the Mari Jalbani police, which included officials from the investigation wing, raided Ali Khan Sanjrani village to arrest some of the accused nominated in an FIR.
As police reached the village, they were attacked by a group of villagers with clubs and iron rods. Police also retaliated.
As a result, SHO Abrar Hassan Rind, Investigation Officer Mansoor Memon, PC Hafiz Magsi and Ghulam Nabi Sanjrani received injuries.
The police, however, arrested two accused namely Juman and Darya Khan. The injured were removed to Sakrand Taluka Hospital for treatment.
Later, a heavy contingent of police, headed by TPO Sakrand, reached on the spot and cordoned the area.
Reports said that local leaders of PML-F also reached on the site to end the siege. No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
The SP Investigations, Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi, told Dawn that there was a dispute between two groups of Sanjrani tribesmen over construction of a road and one Rahim Bux
Sanjrani had registered a case (05/2007) under section 324, 504, 147, 148 149 PPC against six people stating that they attacked and tried to kill him, which led to the raid.
