KARACHI: Student killed

KARACHI, May 30: A college student died and his associate was seriously wounded while resisting a cellphone snatching attempt in the limits of the Mubina town police station on Wednesday.

Police said Faisal and Owais had returned after taking their test and were sitting in front of a general store in Metroville talking on their phones when two persons on a motorcycle pulled up there and demanded the cellphone at gunpoint.

As the youngsters tried to resist the attempt, the suspects opened fire at them and tried to flee. However, the area people gathered at the spot and started pelting stones at the suspects forcing them to fall down.

Meanwhile, a police party also arrived at the spot and arrested the suspects. They were identified as Sanaullah and Asghar.
