EB chief prosecutor resigns

MUZAFFARABAD, March 1: The chief prosecutor of the AJK Ehtesab Bureau, Chaudhry Mohammad Ibrahim Zia, resigned on Friday from his office citing a personal reason.

Mr Zia, a senior lawyer belonging to Muzaffarabad and politically affiliated with Jamaat-i-Islami, submitted the resignation to Ehtesab Bureau Chairman Justice Basharat Ahmed Sheikh (Rtd). “ I want to resume my legal practice”, Ibrahim Zia said.

He was appointed as the chief prosecutor in September 2000, when the bureau was established under an ordinance, which was later enacted by the legislative assembly. Mr Zia was drawing a salary of Rs70,000 besides other perks and privileges, reports Our Staff Correspondent.
