KARACHI, May 26: Four-year-old bay colt Captain Black, who hasn’t win a race this year, is rated to open his account by claiming the feature event in the Gymkhana race meeting at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Trained by Ehtisham, the colt from the stables of Syed Ismail Shah has come up with improved performance in the last meeting when he was placed second behind Fair Diamond in the Sprinter Cup last month.

He is likely to dominate the race in which 11 horses will face the starter at the gate barring last minute withdrawals.

Patricia and Birj-ul-Arab who have emerged victorious in their last outings may pose challenge to Captain Black.

If current form is any indication then five-year-old bay Baap Re Baap should prevail over rivals to pick up the opener which is also the supporting event.

Baap Re Baap had prevailed over The Princess Arab by three lengths under rider M. Nasir on May 16 to complete a splendid treble.

Colt Red Rufus and chestnut Thanks Naeem should battle it out for the places.

Two horses are in the reckoning to pick up spoils in top division of class VII. They are Jawan Bakht and Trust Again. We prefer the former who is tipped to make amends. The two should be chased by Jack In The Box.

In a packed field of 18 runners, three-year-old chestnut colt Shiracco catches the eye in the second race. He should be followed by filly Janu Love Inshu and bay colt Midas Touch.

Desperado, who finished off the board in the previous three meetings, should come up to the mark in the third race.

Five-year-old bay Powerful Gambler is on course to make it two-in-row while mare Taneez should land the other race.
