KARACHI, May 23: Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town has started work on the construction of road from Jauhar Road to Sharea Faisal service road at a cost of Rs18.70 million. The 3,000 running feet road will have 32-feet-wide tracks, one of which will be completed in June and opened for people. This was stated by Gulshan Town Nazim Wasay Jalil during a visit to UC-1 on Wednesday.
The town nazim issued directive for immediate repair of sewerage line as overflowing sewage around this road was hindering the construction work.
He also issued instructions for repair of water leakage at Haider Ali Road and reviewed the progress of work on 48-inch-dia sewerage line at Tipu Sultan Road.Later, he visited the construction work of road and installation of signals at Bahadurabad and Sharafabad roundabout and issued directives for early completion of work.
Meanwhile, Malir Town Nazim Ansar Ahmed Shaikh said the rural areas of Malir Town, which remained without basic facilities for years, were now enjoying the facilities that were available to urban population.
During a visit to various areas of the town on Wednesday, Mr Shaikh said the rural areas were being supplied clean drinking water and provided with sewerage system. He said development works were carried out in all areas of the town without any discrimination.
The town nazim visited Asoo Goth, Sahibdad Goth, Miran Goth, Railway Colony, Musarrat Colony, Maula Ram Compound, Chitai Ground and reviewed the pace of development schemes.—APP
