Car thief killed in shootout

KARACHI, May 20: An alleged carjacker was killed in an encounter with police near Civic Centre on Sunday night.

Two persons hijacked a car from Mirza Mohammad Hussain at gunpoint near Dalton Super Market in Defence Housing Society and drove away.

Police after a long chase, intercepted the car near Hasan Square, some 15 kilometres away from the place of incident.

Anti-Car Lifting Cell SSP Sanaullah Abbasi said the suspects opened fire on police, which were returned causing death of a suspect, later identified as Imran.

His accomplice Ateeq was injured seriously and admitted to a hospital.

Two TT pistols were recovered from them, he added.
