KARACHI, May 20: Special Assistant to the Sindh chief minister, Syed Amir Abdi, has said that the three-day strike call given by the Pakhtun Action Committee (Loya Jirga) for May 25, 27 and 27, in the city will be an utter failure.

In an official statement issued here on Sunday, he said people have become fed up with the frequent disturbances and strikes and have no interest in the strike call, given for the attainment of political goals.

He said there is an environment of complete peace across the province, including Karachi, and the conspiracy to create difference among the people will not meet success.

Syed Amir Abdi said some elements are trying to fan ethnic hatred with the aim of gaining political mileage. But the people are conscious about this and will counter such elements, he added.

He said protection of the life and property of the people is the foremost priority of the government, and those who try to damage public and private property will be dealt with strictly.

The special assistant to the chief minister said there are a few elements unhappy with the increasing investment in the city and wish to create a law and order situation at the signal of foreign hands.

But the government will take strict action against these miscreants, he warned.—APP
