HYDERABAD, Feb 28: The activists of the Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign on Thursday held token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad Press Club against Lasmo, an oil and gas exploration company.
They complained that the multinational company had refused to give jobs to the local population which was against all democratic norms and flagrant violation of the rights of the local people.
They alleged that outsiders were being recruited by the company and threatened to enlarge the scope of their protest if Lasmo did not change its attitude towards the indigenous population.
The union leaders, Anwar Panhwar and Ms Rubina Baloch, supported the struggle of the food grain godown workers, HDA employees, and former SRTC employees and demanded the government to pay wages to the poor workers without any delay.
