HYDERABAD, Feb 28: The left alliance convener and the founder of the Democratic Group, Engineer Jameel Ahmed Malik merged his group and joined the Communist Party of Pakistan.

The decision regarding it was taken at a meeting of the democratic group held at Rawalpindi the other day.

Engineer Malik, in a statement, said that the Communist Party was the only true party of the downtrodden masses and oppressed classes which firmly believes in the socialist revolution for resolving the economic problems of the poor masses and eradication of corruption in the country.

He claimed that those people who think that socialism had collapsed after the downfall of the Soviet Union were totally mistaken as they were ignorant of historical materialism and Karl Marx who had clearly stated that the “history of the world is the history of class struggle”.

He was of the opinion that as long as the oppressor and the oppressed classes were there socialist revolution was inevitable and socialism alone could solve the problems of the poor.

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the central secretariat of the Communist Party of Pakistan, Imdad Qazi welcomed the decision of the Democratic Group and the convener of the Left Alliance, Engineer Jameel Ahmed Malik, to join the CPP.

He said that his party would perform its historic role against the presence of American forces on Pakistani soil and rampant unemployment due to imperialist globalization and poverty alleviation.

Me Qazi claimed that without a socialist revolution in Pakistan, the country would continue to remain in the grip of crisis.
