KARACHI, May 11: The by-election for the Sindh Assembly constituency PS-123 Karachi XXXV will be held on June 16 while nomination papers can be filed on May 15 and 16.

This seat of the provincial assembly has fallen vacant with the resignation of Syed Jarar Haider Shah who was elected on the ticket of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the last general elections of 2002.

According to the election schedule, announced by the chief election commissioner to fill the vacant seat, the district returning officer will invite nomination papers through a public notice on May 14 while aspiring candidates can file their nominations on 15th and 16th.

The returning officer will scrutinise the papers on May 17 while appeals against acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers can be filed by May 23 which will be decided by May 30. The last date for withdrawal of the nomination papers is May 31.
