PESHAWAR, May 7: Awami National Party has condemned the killing of Pakistan People’s Party leader Syed Qamar Abbas and has held the federal and the provincial governments responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

In a statement issued from Bacha Khan Markaz on Monday, the party’s central additional general secretary Mohammad Adeel and provincial president Afrasiab Khattak said the ANP followed the Bacha Khan’s philosophy of non-violence.

The party, it said, was against the business of killings and could not think of taking revenge from anyone. The leaders as well as workers of the party had followed the course of law and had never resorted to violence or revenge even when facing repression from any quarter, said the statement.

The ANP leaders expressed the hope that the brutal killing of the senior vice president of PPP would not be politicised. They asked the government to look into the matter thoroughly and bring the culprits to justice.

NWFP Governor Lt Gen (retd) Ali Muhammad Jan Aurakzai has also condemned the killing, says APP.

The governor expressed his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved family and prayed that they be granted the strength to bear the irreparable loss with patience and fortitude.

He expressed the hope that the killers would be arrested and brought to justice.

The governor also expressed his deep shock and sorrow over the road accident in the Galiyat area of Abbottabad district on Sunday night which claimed several lives.

While expressing his heartfelt sympathies with the members of the bereaved families, he prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed souls in eternal peace.
