LAHORE, May 1: Pakistan team’s manager-cum-coach Talat Ali insisted all the probables at the ongoing training camp must make 30 per cent improvement in their fitness level before the home series against South Africa scheduled for Sept-Oct this year.

Talking to reporters during the practice match between Hanif Mohammad XI and A.H. Kardar XI here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Tuesday, Talat said the players had around five months to improve their current fitness level, adding that otherwise, there wouldn’t be good results for them in future.

“It is a hard fact that presently the boys don’t possess ideal fitness condition; their current fitness levels have been recorded and they will have to show improvement before the South Africa series,” he maintained and declared that all the boys had been told on the very first day at the camp that fitness was their own problem.

Talat further said the players’ fitness would again be checked when they report to the training camp to be held in Abbottabad next month.

However, the manager was reluctant to make any comment when asked what action would be taken against those who failed to show improvement in their fitness. “Though I cannot say anything at the moment, but obviously it will not be good for those players (who don’t improve their fitness),” he said.
