LONDON, April 20: Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Nawaz Sharif has said he is even against holding talks with the government, let alone striking a deal.

He was talking to reporters after meeting People’s Party Parliamentarians leader Ghulam Mustafa Khar at the PMN-N office here on Friday.

Mr Sharif said there was unanimity of views between him and Mr Khar on the prevailing political situation in Pakistan and they agreed on the need for continuing the struggle for restoring a constitutional rule in the country.

He hoped that signatories to the Charter of Democracy would stand by it and would not hold talks with the government.

Mr Khar said reports about the PPP deal with the government were aimed at creating controversy among the opposition parties. He said there was no possibility of such an arrangement because “Benazir Bhutto was the daughter of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and a genuine political leader who would never commit political suicide by making any sort of deal with a military dictator”. He said any deal with Gen Musharraf would prove disastrous for the PPP.—Online
