QUETTA, April 20: A man was killed and two others were injured in a landmine blast in the Loti gas field area in Dera Bugti district on Friday.
Police said that the deceased, identified as Mohammad Murad Bugti, was labourer working on an under-construction building.
“The landmine exploded in the Haft-Wali area of Loti (gas field), killing a man and injuring two others,” Dera Bugti’s DPO Najum Tareen said, adding that they had stepped over the landmine while working.
The injured were taken to a local hospital.
According to the police, security forces had tried to clean the area of landmines but it seemed many had gone undetected.
Meanwhile, the rail traffic between Quetta and the rest of the country was restored after the railway track that was blown up on Friday night was repaired on Saturday.
Railway personnel had worked all night to replace the damaged track under tight security.
Police officials said that it had arrested two dozen men in connection with the blast that occurred near the office of the District Executive Officer (Revenue), Sibi, the other day. A man was injured in the blast.
“Suspects are being interrogated,” police officials said.
