KARACHI, April 20: Four thousand children are enrolled in national centres for rehabilitation of child labour in Sindh where every child is being paid Rs10 daily as stipend and Rs300 per month are being given to their poor parents to bridge the income gap.
This was stated at a meeting chaired by Federal Local Government and Rural Development Minister Justice (rtd) Abdul Razzaq Thaheem on Friday. The Director of Baitul Mal Sindh briefed the meeting about functioning of the organisation.
It was pointed out that besides the stipend, free uniform and books were being provided to the enrolled students at the 36 national centres for rehabilitation.
The meeting was told that 26 vocational training centres were functioning in the province where the poor and needy women were being imparted training in different trades.
About the Food Support Programme, it was pointed out that preparation was underway for smooth and transparent disbursement of food support subsidy amounting Rs900 million to the needy persons in the interior of Sindh.—APP
