KARACHI, April 19: The Nazims of the Jamshed and Gulberg Towns have tendered their resignations to the coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, it emerged on Thursday.

Sources close to the coordination committee said the Nazims cited personal reasons for their inability to continue to do their jobs.

They added that Naib Nazims of the two towns would temporarily fill in as Nazims.

A senior government official said the resignations of Gulberg Town Nazim Mo’ud Hayat and Jamshed Town Nazim Arif Ajaika had not yet been received by the provincial government.

Meanwhile, a federal lawmaker belong to the MQM, Abid Ali Umang, was suspended by the Muttahida on Thursday.
