KARACHI, April 14: A policeman was shot dead in Mithadar area early on Saturday morning. Two dacoits snatched Rs1,000 and a cellphone from a man at gunpoint on the Native Jetty Bridge. As the dacoits fled on their motorcycles, two policemen patrolling the area chased them. The dacoits hiding themselves in bushes opened fire as the policemen reached and fled. Constable Mohammed Ilyas, hailing from Sialkot, was killed on the spot and Constable Mohammed Saleem was wounded. The body and the injured were shifted to the civil hospital.—Staff Reporter
