LAHORE, Feb 25: Five goals by Diego Araya including a hat trick enabled Samsung Mobiles Blues to beat Nee Punhal 10-4 to claim the Aibak Polo Cup at the Lahore Polo Club Sunday.

In the subsidiary final, Remounts beat KFC/Remounts by 6-5 1/2 to take third position.

Punhal with two goals on handicap could only score two goals through Shah Qublai Alam who scored in the first and third chukker. The better -ridden Blues quartet not only put up a good defence but struck at regular intervals to win by a wide margin.

Malik Atif Yar Tiwana scored all his three goals during the first chukker. Araya himself converted a 30 yards penalty-hit. At end of the first chukker, Blues led 4-3.

Araya scored both the field goals of second chukker to increase the lead 6-4, completing his hat-trick in the third with a field goal

Faiz Rahim scored back-to-back goals to enhance Blues’ lead to 9-4.

Araya scored the only goal of fourth chukker on another 60 yards penalty -shot to make the score 10-4.

The match for the third spot was keenly contested. KFC/Remounts had advantage of half-a-goal on handicap and scored five goals during play. Toto Collardin struck thrice while Captain Haseeb Minhas and Captain Shahryar scored a goal, each.

For Remounts, Ahmad Khan and Gerardo Mazzini scored three goals, each to register the narrow win.
