ISLAMABAD, March 28: The Foreign Office on Wednesday summoned the Afghan charge d’affaires and lodged a stringent protest over the assassination of a Pakistani engineer near Mazar-i-Sharif and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits as well as conclusive investigations.
“The Afghan charge d’affaires was summoned to the Foreign Office and was conveyed the shock and deep concern of the government of Pakistan over the murder of Ishfaq Ahmad and quick and conclusive investigations and immediate arrest of the culprits were demanded,” Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
Pakistan’s ambassador in Kabul also raised the matter with the Afghan foreign ministry.
The Afghan envoy conveyed “deep regrets and condolences” on behalf of the Afghan government over the murder.
According to the Foreign Office, Ishfaq Ahmad, who was working as engineer with a private Afghan construction firm, was killed in Chamtal district on Tuesday night.
