HYDERABAD, March 20: The District Naib Nazim of Hyderabad, Mr Zafar Rajput, who is also the convener of district council Hyderabad and chairman of Monitoring Committee for construction of high rise plazas in the urban areas of the district, has recommended to the district government for initiating legal proceedings against the builders of four projects of Hyderabad city and Latifabad for violating district government policy.

The recommendations were made at a meeting of the monitoring committee for construction of high rise buildings at his office here on Monday.

The meeting, which was attended by the members of the committee and Deputy Director of Building Control HDA, expressed concern over the conversion of parking space into commercial shopping centres.

Speaking on the occasion, the district naib nazim said that a resolution was tabled in the district council during its ordinary session regarding uncontrolled construction of buildings and plazas in Hyderabad and subsequently council unanimously formed a committee comprising eight members under his chairmanship.

He said that the purpose of this meeting was to focus on main problems, violations in the construction of multi-storey plazas and shopping centres mostly in the thickly populated areas in Hyderabad city and Latifabad.

Quoting violation in the construction in four projects identified by the members of the committee one at Risala Road Hyderabad city and three in Latifabad, the District Naib Nazim said that neither the provision of parking according to the newly circulated policy by district government Hyderabad was being followed nor sufficient space was reserved to provide parking facilities to the allottees of the projects.

The Deputy Director Building Control Department, HDA to a query about violations in these projects, informed the meeting that site plans of the construction project on Risala Road was got approved before the declaration of present policy but its revised plan was approved in January 2007 in which the present policy of district government was not followed .

He said that so far the other three projects in Latifabad were concerned, two builders of the projects have been served notices by HDA and now the matter was in the court while violation for providing parking space in another project in Latifabad would be re-verified and report submitted to the committee.

The committee, keeping in view the policy of the district government of Hyderabad and the District Nazim, Mr. Kanwar Naveed Jamil, observed that no builder would be allowed to violate the construction rules and create traffic and parking problems for the allottees and general public.

The committee recommended to the district government of Hyderabad to initiate legal proceedings against the delinquents.
