KARACHI, March 20: A 35-year-old woman, mother of three daughters, was strangled allegedly by her husband on Tuesday.

Surjani police said Naila, wife of Tahir Rasheed, was found dead in her house in Yousuf Goth around 1:45am. They said the neighbours contacted the victim’s brother, Noor Mohammed, when they heard the cries of Naila’s daughters.

Noor Mohammed told the police that he found his sister dead with her scarf wrapped around her neck. He said his nieces, aged six, three and one, were crying beside the body of their mother. The body was shifted to Jinnah hospital where sources said the woman died due to strangulation.

Police registered murder case against the victim’s husband, a labourer hailing from Jehlum, on the complaint of Noor Mohammed who said his sister was married to Tahir Rasheed nine years ago, but their relations were strained. The police said they were making efforts to track him down.

In Mohammed Ali Colony, Korangi No 6, a 40-year-old woman was shot dead during a robbery at her house.

Zaman Town police said four bandits sneaked into the house of Amanat Ali in Sector 51-B around 5:30am. They said intruders held the inmates hostage at gunpoint and took away Rs37,000.

Police said the dacoits opened fire on resistance fatally wounding Amanat’s wife, Zahida, mother of four children. She died on way to the Jinnah hospital where sources said the victim had received two bullets in her chest.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Amanat.

ACCIDENT: A 33-year-old truck driver was killed when his vehicle collided with a trailer near Gaghar Phattak on the National Highway. The body was shifted to the JPMC where the deceased was identified as Shahid.

The driver of the trailer, Azmatullah, 30, was also injured in the accident.
