QUETTA, Feb 21: Police reforms are being introduced in Balochistan to improve the performance of the force, Governor Justice (retd) Amirul Mulk said here Thursday.
Speaking at the annual passing-out parade of the Police Training School, he said his government, from the day one, mounted effort to make police department an effective institution so that the citizens could live with peace.
He lauded the standard of training and fine turnout of the police officials and hoped this would be maintained in future with dedication and hard work.
He was sanguine the police jawans would not hesitate to render any sacrifice for upholding rule of law and ensuring complete peace and security. They would work hard to eliminate criminals and terrorists from the province, he hoped.
He said he knew the police responsibilities were very tough but hoped that those emerging from training would be able to meet any challenge.
Justice Mengal assured that the government would take all possible measures to maintain the standard of police training so that it faced no hurdles in performing duties.
The provincial governor announced upgrading of the police training school, raising its status to that of a college.
He said the necessary funds would be provided for the completion of ongoing water supply schemes in the current budget while the recruiting hostel funds would be arranged in the next financial year’s budget.
He also approved various development schemes whose PC-I was ready.
He announced a cash reward of Rs1,000 for each policeman, levies jawan and official who performed duties effectively despite immense difficulties after Sept 11.
He also approved 20 per cent increase in the allowance of the training staff and gave two lakh rupees for Bara Khana.
Earlier, Inspector General Police Balochistan, presented an address of welcome in which he informed that over 200 police jawans completed there training, including 75 levies men.
So far, over ten thousand jawans have completed their training since the inception of the school.
