KARACHI, Feb 28: The Chairman Public Accounts Committee of the Sindh Assembly, Jam Madad Ali has termed the performance of the Accountant General Sindh as the best brought before the PAC compared to all other departments in Sindh.
Jam Madad Ali, who visited the AGS office on Wednesday, praised it for redressing the problems and issues of the pensioners regarding their GP fund and pension.
The PAC chief, however, stressed that the budget monitoring should be strengthened. He asked the AGS for close liaison with the finance department and help them achieve good budgetary control in future. Referring to the main problems in the country, he said poverty and education were the main issues.
Earlier, AGS Zulfikar Ali Kaderi in his welcome address gave a briefing about AGS performance and spoke about the pace of computerisation in Sindh’s accounting system.
Mr Kadri said the entire accounting system in Sindh would be computerised by early next year. Right now, he said, five districts were completely computerised and eight more districts would be computerised in the next few months. This system, he said, would bring timely completion of pension and GPO Fund cases as well as disbursement of government employees salaries.
