KARACHI, Feb 27: Senior Provincial Minister Syed Sardar Ahmad said that Sindh was the only province of the country which generated highest revenue as such it deserved the lion’s share in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.
The minister said that their party had always raised voice for the people of Pakistan, Sindh in particular and soon they would submit a bill in the Sindh Assembly in this regard.
Responding to questions of a group of media men, the minister said that for provincial autonomy it was essential that all provinces should get hundred per cent share of their sales and excise tax while as far as the remaining taxes were concerned the provinces should get share on the basis of multiple formula.
Stressing the need for total neutrality of the NFC, the senior minister said that all provinces ought to send their recommendations to the National Finance Commission which should give award on the basis of multiple formula, so that provinces could utilise their income effectively for their development.
The senior minister pointed out that Sindh had already submitted its recommendations to the commission, which were still pending.
The awards so far given were on ad-hoc basis as final award would be given in the light of the recommendations received from all provinces on the majority basis, he added.
