ISLAMABAD, Feb 20: The Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the assistant advocate-general of Punjab to contact the interior ministry to find out reasons behind the detention of a citizen for several months.
Justice Abdul Shakoor Paracha heard the writ petition filed by Saima, the wife of Abdul Ahad, in which she has prayed before the court that her husband be released.
In her petition Saima has stated that her husband was kidnapped by the intelligence agencies a few months ago and his whereabouts have been unknown since then.
Assistant Advocate-General of Punjab Mudassar Khalid Abbasi informed the court that according to the Punjab Home Department and jail authorities, Abdul Ahad had been kept in Adiala Jail.
On this, the learned judge directed the assistant advocate-general to obtain a copy of the detention order from the interior ministry and produce the same before the court in the next hearing to be held on February 22.
