Shahzaib, Umar in TT final

LAHORE, Feb 20: Shahzaib Maqbool and Umar Asad qualified for under-20 final of the Lahore Inter-schools table tennis championship by winning their respective semi-finals at the Chroma Table Tennis Complex on Tuesday.

Shahzaib thrashed Usama Tahir in the first semi-final in straight sets (11-8, 11-9) while Umar showed no mercy to Habib and defeated him 11-9, 11-9.

The final will be played on Wednesday (today).

Earlier, several matches of U-14 and U-16 events were decided.

Under-20 (semi-finals):

Shahzaib Maqbool bt Usama Tahir 11-8, 11-9; Umar Asad bt Habib 11-9, 11-9.

Quarter-finals:

Shazaib Maqbool bt Basil 11-9, 11-9; Usama Tahir bt Usama Abid 11-9, 11-8; Habib bt Shaharyar Khan 11-9, 11-7; Umar Asad bt Zohaid 11-9, 11-9.

Under-14:

Najeeb Aftab bt Nitash Alamgir 11-9, 11-8; Ahmed Aleem walkover Ahmed Tariq; Shahzaib Maqbool bt Safiullah 11-8, 11-7; Rehan Sharif bt Hamza Kamal 12-10, 11-8; Hamza Pervaiz bt Syed Ayan 11-8, 11-8; Kamran Afzal bt Arslan 11-8, 11-9.

Under-16:
