KARACHI, Feb 20: Sindh Minister for Education and Literacy Dr Hamida Khuhro has said the improvement in the examination system by adopting measures like computerization of results, launching of website, centralised assessment system, exercise of strict vigilance of examination and assessment centres must be admired.

Addressing at a gold medal award ceremony for the students of Board of Intermediate Education Karachi at Bahria Auditorium on Tuesday morning, she said an effective examination system could prove to be vehicle of improvement in teacher learning process and the improved quality of examination may in the long run result in improvement of the overall quality of education.

Hamida Khuhro said over the last five years, the government had taken several initiatives to reform the teaching and learning in schools and colleges. One of these reforms included the designing and implementation of an examination system that ensure assessment of comprehension of concepts, analytical skills and cultural approach of students, she said.

She said success of students was due to hard work, guidance of teachers, institutions and tireless efforts of parents. She congratulated all the students and hoped that they would continue in the same manner and would bring glory to the country.

BIEK Chairman Professor Iftikhar Hussain Zaidi also addressed the function. Later, the minister distributed gold medals, prizes and certificates among position holders.

Sindh Ombudsman Yousaf Jamal, Hyderabad Board Chairman Professor Sultan Abbas, Karachi Board Secretary Hafiz Arshad Indhar were also present.—PPI
