KARACHI, Feb 20: The Pakistan People’s Party would hold a series of meetings from Wednesday at Bilawal House to review prevailing political situation after by-elections and internal organisational matters to formulate recommendations and suggestions for devising future line of action.
The party would also prepare strategy for contesting the general elections, PPP sources said.
The three-day meetings with its leaders, MNAs, MPAs, Senators, party ticket holders, members of central executive committee and provincial council, besides the representatives of affiliated organizations from each district of Sindh, would be presided over by PPP Vice Chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
According to the schedule, the meeting with district presidents, general secretaries, MNAs,MPAs, Senators, ticket holders, CEC and Sindh Council members, representatives of affiliated organizations from Hyderabad division would be held on Wednesday at 10am while those of Mirpurkhas division at 4pm.The meeting with leaders from Sukkur division would be held at 10am and that of Larkana division at 2pm on Thursday while of Karachi division on Friday at 10am. Opposition leader in Senate Mian Raza Rabbani, PPP Sindh Chief Syed QaimAli Shah, opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Taj Hyder and other central and senior leaders would also attend the meetings.
Sources said the recommendations and suggestions with regard to organisational matters and future line of action would be presented to party chairperson Benazir Bhutto for taking the final decision.
Manhandling Slammed: The Pakistan Peoples Party has strongly condemned the arrest and manhandling of nationalist leader Abdul Wahid Aresar in Hyderabad.
In a press statement issued here on Tuesday, President PPP Sindh Chapter, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, said that General Musharraf’s regime was repeating the barbarian tactics of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet against political parties workers and warned him to remember the tragic end that Pinochet suffered.
He said Mr Aresar, who was an elderly person was picked up by armed officials representing Musharraf's regime from Hyderabad along with his nephews and colleagues. They were treated in an inhuman manner.
He demanded of a judicial inquiry into the Hyderabad incident and those responsible for this act be brought to book.—PPI
