LAHORE, Feb 20: Debutante bay filly, Fancy Light, annexed feature event of the mid-week Lahore gymkhana races in majestic style, leading from start to finish at the Lahore Race Club track Wednesday. Like all the other events of the day, this race was also run over the distance of five furlongs.

Backed at 30 to 100 favourite, Fancy Light justified the confidence reposed in her, defeating roan colt Puma Star by over two lengths handily.

Blu’s Wendy finished third after being nosed out by Puma Star in a photo-finish. Royal Prosper completed the frame, one-and-a-half lengths further back. In all, eleven competed in this sixth and last race of the afternoon.

Earlier, filly Lucky Credit Queen maintained her reputation of a reliable runner by registering her second successive victory in fifth race of the afternoon, which was the supporting event.

Owned by Riaz-ul-Haq Qureshi, this filly is from Lucky Concept-out-of-Credit. She showed courage, consistency and speed to outpace her 16 rivals.

Ridden by her regular partner in the saddle, Shehzad Iqbal, the filly beat the bay colt In Command by four-and-a-half lengths. Bay gelding Burq Raftar finished third, three-fourth of a length further back while Silver Heart completed the frame, a length behind him.

Trainer Akhtar Mir stole limelight of the day by saddling two winners. He sent in Incognito, who won the third race and Lucky Credit Queen who claimed the fifth event.
