LAHORE, Feb 12: Four-year-old bay filly, Dil Vil, hacked the field to land the Imperial Builders Cup run over the sprinting distance of 1200m during the 24th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Monday.

The meeting was to be held on Sunday but was postponed for a day because of heavy rains in the city.

The Haji Fazal Hadi trained filly owned by Javaid Khalid and confidently piloted home by jockey M. Hanif, Dil Vil was the best performer of the day.

She beat Great Murad by a distance's margin with Namroud and Chill completing the frame. This was the fifth race of the day.

The six-event card provided a couple of close finishes which thrilled the sports connoisseurs, who were far less in number than those attending races on Sundays.

The fourth race turned out a most exciting contest with four horses finishing within over a length. Long-shot mare Fruity won by a short-head verdict from Harry Can View. Cross Ruff finished third, three-fourth of a length behind while Aaja Bulbul completed the board, another half-a-length back.

Another close finish was seen in the second race in which the filly, Gold Medallist, proved worth her name defeating the favourite colt, Re-Born by three-fourth of a length on the finishing post. This was second successive defeat of Re-Born, who was renamed after first defeat as Billoo Prince, his earlier name.

Dark-bay filly, Himmat, won the first race in which at least five competitors were backed. She beat Rang Dey Basanti by over three lengths.

Three favourites and a joint favourite won in a card of six races.
