KARACHI, Feb 12: Parliamentary Leader of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal in the Sindh Assembly Nasrullah Shaji said on Monday that the rulers had pushed the education system towards disaster by introducing the combined examination system for classes IX and X without taking students, parents and teachers into confidence.

He said this while speaking at a seminar on 'Combined Examination System: Drawbacks, Reservations and Solutions' organised by the Islami Jamiat Talaba.

The seminar was also addressed by Professor Dewan Aftab Khan, Islami Nizamat Taleem Sindh leader Misbah-ul-Huda, All Private School Management Association leader Hassan Qutub, IJT leader Sameeullah Hussaini, Anjman Talaba Karachi President Nameer Ahmed and representatives of parents Hanif Jadoon and Salahuddin Shaikh.

The MMA leader said that the provincial education department was terming the combined examination system a matter of the federal government while the ban on teachers union was being described as need of the province.

He said the combined examination was a conspiracy against the students, and it should be withdrawn immediately.

Prof Dewan Aftab said the education system had not been run according to the national ideology since the creation of Pakistan as all decisions were being taken on the dictation of foreign powers.

He said the dictators and feudal lords were given the reins of our education sector, adding, and the combined examination’s was an ill-conceived decision.

Misbah-ul-Huda also criticised the combined examination system and demanded its immediate withdrawal.—PPI
